Obituary: Laura Cravath - RIN 12811
Deseret News, 30 July 1917, p 14, FHL film 0027006
Mrs. Laura C. Pack, a widely known pioneer and Church worker, died at her home on Blaine avenue Saturday evening, July 28. She had been suffering for some time from high blood pressure and, although surrounded by loving relatives who ministered to her wants, she continued to grow weaker and on Friday suffered a stroke of paralysis. From that time until the end, she remained almost in an unconscious condition.
Mrs. Pack was the daughter of Austin and Eliza Doty Cravath, and was born in Weathersfield, Wyoming county, New York, Jan 21, 1840. She came to Utah with her mother in 1850 and was married to the late Ward E. Pack in 1858. Much of her life was spent with that well-known pioneer and frontiersman in settling new districts and a great part of her life was passed in Kamas; later she lived in Roosevelt, though for the last nine years she had been with her daughters in this city.
She had 11 children, of whom six survive her. They are: Leon R. Pack, Mrs. May P. Ingham, J. Austin Pack, Mrs. Grace E. Callis, Pearl I. Pack and Laura E. Blazzard.
Mrs. Pack had lived an active life, devoted to the good of others and her departure will cause deep mourning in a wide circle. Much of her later life had been devoted to temple work and previously she was connected with both the Young Ladies’ and Relief society movements, having been president of the Relief society in Kamas for many years.

DEATH: Deseret Evening News (Salt Lake City), 18 Nov 1907, p 8, FHL film 0026969
OBITUARY: Deseret Evening News (Salt Lake City), 18 Nov 1907, p 8, FHL film 0026969:
Ward E. Pack, oldest son of John Pack and Julia Ives Pack, born at Watertown, New York, April 17 1834, died at Vernal, Utah, November 16, 1907.
His parents joined the Church and moved to Far West when he was a child; they were victims of the mobbing at Far West and moved to Nauvoo, Ill., with the saints. When the pioneers were chosen, his father was one of those selected. He came west, leaving his family and Ward, who was then 14 years old, at Winter Quarters. The family came to Salt Lake in the following year and settled in the Seventeenth Ward. In 1850 Ward Pack was called on a mission to the Sandwich Islands with President Smith and others who made up the second company of missionaries to reach those islands. Mr. Pack remained in the islands until the missionaries were recalled by President Young in 1857.
In 1869 he performed a year's mission with his father and mother, their work being among friends and relations. Upon returning the family took its residence up at Kamas in Summit county where the family home has been since located. When the Summit stake was organized, Mr. Pack was chosen second counselor to President W. W. Cluff, a position he held until the reorganization of the stake when he was ordained a patriarch. He subsequently filled two more missions to the Sandwich Islands, presiding over the missions both times in 1876 and 1890.
Not only to his church, but to the territory was Ward Pack a faithful servant. He acted in the capacities of selectman, probate judge, member of the territorial legislature and sat in two territorial conventions which asked for statehood. Of his mother's family, five brothers and two sisters survived him. He was the father of twenty-one children, fourteen of whom are still living. Forty grandchildren survived him also.

DEATH of WARD E. PACK
Ward E. Pack of Roosevelt, Uintah county, died at the Groves LDS hospital last evening. He had been ill for a number of months with intestinal trouble, but the immediate cause of his death was pneumonia.
Mr. Pack was a well-known citizen of Utah, having lived here some years ago and officiated as clerk of the police court under Judge George D. Pyper. Of late years, he had resided in Vernal and later still he took up his residence in Roosevelt where he was secretary of the Dry Gulch Irrigation
Company, and one of the men who organized the Roosevelt Mercantile Company. His father, Ward E. Pack, Sr., one of the Utah pioneers, died November 16 last. His son was one of the pallbearers, but took to his bed immediately after with a complication of disorders and has never recovered since.
Mr. Pack was born at Bountiful July 21, 1859, and was approaching his forty-ninth birthday. He married Eliza J. Atwood, by whom he had ten children, four boys and four girls still living.

FUNERAL of WARD E. PACK
The funeral of the late Ward E. Pack was held at the residence of Mrs. Atwood on 13th East, yesterday, a large number of sympathizing relatives and friends being in attendance. The services were presided over by Bishop Brighton. The speakers were Elder Harden Bennion and Hyrum Baird of the bishopric at Roosevelt and Dr. James E. Talmadge, the latter having been a school companion of the deceased.
OBITUARY: Deseret Evening News (Salt Lake City), 18 Mar 1908, p 3, FHL film 0026970:
In the passing of Ward E. Pack so soon after his honored father, the community loses one of its best citizens, an honest man, true to his friends, honorable above all else, a despiser of hypocracy, not afraid to speak his mind for what he believed to be right in the face of any opposition. A man among men.
