Perched atop the central pillar of This Is the Place Monument, with an excellent view of the Salt Lake Valley, are statues of pioneer leaders Brigham Young (center), Heber C. Kimball (left) and Wilford Woodruff. The 1947 monument’s grand design and statuary are by Brigham Young’s grandson, artist Mahonri M. Young.
